Turks and Caicos Islands
Green Revolution Ltd provides renewable solar energy solutions and energy efficiency advice to the Turks and Caicos Islands. We offer design, supply only, or supply and install service for new build and existing buildings/facilities.
We specialize in the following solar products: solar hot water, solar pool heating, solar pool pumps and solar photovoltaic.
Fortis TCI is the main power utility in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is a privately owned company and services all of the inhabited islands within the Turks and Caicos Island chain.
The Fortis TCI grid is extremely reliable and often maintains power supplies through the duration of major hurricanes.
TCI Green Energy
Why choose green solar energy in the Turks and Caicos?
With power costs ranging between $0.40 and $0.55/kWhr and worldwide fuel costs constantly increasing, solar is an efficient, affordable and environmentally responsible alternative to mains power.
The use of diesel generators by Fortis TCI to provide power, pollutes our environment providing harmful emissions and the danger of future spillage and contamination to our fragile Beautiful By Nature islands.
As it stands Fortis TCI allow homeowners and business owners to connect to their power grid through their CORE (Customer Owned Renewable Energy), and UORE (Utility Owned Renewable Energy) programs.
With the CORE program, building owners purchase their own renewable energy system. Fortis will then buy all power produced by this system at a rate equal to the fuel factor rate (in place at that time) + $0.07/kWhr = $0.20/kWhr (at June 11th 2018)
With the UORE program, Fortis will purchase, install and own the system. They will pay the property owner a monthly fee to 'lease' the roof from the owner. Fortis offer a payment of $10/kW/mth installed + incentive bonus (based on the amount of power produced by the system). As an example a system sized at 100kW would earn the building owner approx. $15-18,000 Per annum (the roof would need to be approx. 9-10,000sf in size). If you own a roof sized at >10,000sf this is a very viable option to consider.
Upcoming developments in the TCI renewable energy legislation......
The Turks and Caicos Government and Fortis TCI are currently reviewing the electricity legislation to enable Turks and Caicos residents to use the solar power they produce to offset their power consumption (rather than sell everything back to Fortis at their pre-agreed rate). This would mean that the power produced by the solar power you produce would be worth around $0.40/kWhr, rather than the $0.20/kWhr currently offered by Fortis. The new legislation is likely to come into effect in 2018.
Green Revolution are working with their customers to reduce their energy consumption NOW, by becoming more energy efficient. This will in turn reduce the cost of their future solar installation.
Imagine..... being paid by Fortis for producing your own power!!
Contrary to popular belief certain types of solar installation can be installed immediately, without any impact from Fortis TCI, these installations will reduce your power bill significantly, see solar hot water heaters, solar pool pumps and solar pool heating.
